UNCIVILISATION: The Dark Mountain Network

A space for conversations in a time of global disruption

This film was made in response to Irish Biodiversity week - simple knowledge learnt about managing a woodland to increase biodiversity. Much of Ireland's woodland knowledge is long since lost - Cathy's work highlights sustainable, Close to Nature permanent forestry, more common in parts of EU but virtually unknown still in Ireland.

Filmed in her own wood, Carlow, Ireland, see more at ecoartnotebook.com where Cathy is converting her 20 y conifer monoculture plantation into a permanent, mixed species forest.

Cathy is a researcher artist filmmaker undertaking a PhD in practice and theory at NCAD,GradCAM, Dublin, Ireland, in 2010 http://www.gradcam.ie/people/cathy_fi... and works with professional foresters. She is also working on Irish forestry policy.
