UNCIVILISATION: The Dark Mountain Network

A space for conversations in a time of global disruption

It hasn't surfaced yet  over the plan for a nuke dump in the Debatable Lands as big as Lake Windermere and as deep as the Eiffel Tower.

Where is that wild Border Reivers spirit? They were villains precisely because the
"Borderers of both England and Scotland by the 16th century realised that their respective
government could no longer provide justice nor protection"

The Border Reivers may have been outlaws but they never stole our future -
or left us with our beautiful land unfit for anything but a nuclear graveyard.

"geological disposal" what a lovely term for DUMP.

Maybe this calls for some "arboreal abodes" (tree-houses), "thoroughfare impediments" (roadblocks) and "primate-inspired torque-adjustment" (monkey wrenching). ;-)

(And before the powers that be accuse me of 'incitement' it's worth pointing out that under Border Law an aggrieved party has the right to counteract within six days of any wrongdoing taking place.)

Sadly I only know this snippet of the law because my brother is into genealogy (we're descended from the Potts, Burns (Middle March) and Storey (West March) Reiver families - with a little Scots Mackie thrown in for good measure)... be good to find out more though, I'll work on it :-)

There's also the blockade at Hinkley on Oct 3rd if anyone can make it.

I like this idea. Tree houses on the West Coast ...

Although I am living in Perth and originally from Cheshire, my mothers family are Jardines, one of the Reiver clans. My friend Seiben is a Working Bearded Collie from a farm near Moffat, the breed Reivers would have used for droving cattle.
