UNCIVILISATION: The Dark Mountain Network

A space for conversations in a time of global disruption

We've heard from people who are travelling from all over the UK to UNCIVILISATION 2010 - and a few from further afield.

Tell us where you'll be coming from - and let's see if we can connect you up to other people in your area who are coming to the festival.

EDIT: For those coming by public transport, the nearest mainline rail station is Ruabon (2.5hrs from London via Chester). There are local buses from there to Llangollen, which takes 15 minutes.

Hi Londoners - just to say that with Briony and Shaun and my pre-existing passengers Al-car is now full. Sorry Lois! Those coming with me - let's chat earlier in the week itself to confirm exact plans. I'd like to leave fairly early from NW London so we can get at least the end of the afternoon in Llangollen, hopefully buying plywood on the way.

Best
Alex

Hello, I'd love to hear from anyone driving down from Scotland?

Will gladly share fuel costs if you have space for one, possibly two.

I'm Glasgow-based and can travel to meet you where you are.

Planning to attend the festival weekend (but not the camp), traveling down on friday 28th and back monday 31st.

Many thanks,

Liam Hurley
coming from central London, would like to travel up on the wednesday and back on sunday evening. there might be another couple of us than me, or they may choose other dates. can offer share of petrol money. can anyone offer any of us a lift? cheers!
Hi all -
Plan A - I'm looking for a lift from Birmingham/Black Country area, can get to M6 Mway junctions if anyone's driving by.
Plan B - If not, I can borrow a car and take 3-4 others.
Either way, I'm leaving after 4.30pm Fri, return late Sun.
Thanks
would it be easier if we were all listing our journeys on liftshare or freewheelers? which is preferred by organisers?
I'm hoping to go up on Friday evening. I have to go to an interview on the Friday afternoon. If anyone wants company train travelling from around 5 or 6pm (and finding a late night bus or taxi, then finding a campspot, at the far end) I'm up for some company too. Or, maybe there'll be a lift going from London? I'm on bridget.mckenzie@flowassociates.com or @bridgetmck
Hi Alex,
I am from North London and planning to go. Might you have space - I am in Finchley.
Happy to go on either Thursday or friday morning and come back on sunday night or monday morning.

Another Londoner, probably heading from the North, probably driving, probably with some passengers and a bit of space.

Probabilities aside, if you are looking for a lift, definitely say so!

HI Nea, Julia and Colin,

I'm a PhD student living in central Edinburgh and would like to come to the weekend but trains look like a headache. Is anyone planning on driving and would like another person to contribute to petrol and conversation?

Julia & Colin have you met up yet? Let me know if there's room in your plans for one more body.

Hi Julia and Colin

I'm also in Edinburgh - were you thinking to travel on the 28th? Public route looks complicated - most direct route changing in Manchester, Chester and Wrexham?

Cheers, Nea

hi Colin

Hi Julia

Where about in edinburgh do you live, perhaps we could meet up some time before the event and workout travel, I hope some of my students might also be coming.

All the best

Colin

I'm in Edinburgh, will be going for the weekend, and possibly also the pre-fest camping - haven't worked out logistics yet as still working out days.

coming from Nitten by the Bing, a small mining village south of Edinburgh in bonnie Scotland. Anyone else from round this way?
Hi everyone -

I realised belatedly that a forum isn't a very helpful way to organise lift-sharing - sorry! There's a site called Freewheelers which is designed for exactly this, so I've created an UNCIV page on there:

http://www.freewheelers.co.uk/UNCIVILISATION_2010:_The_Dark_Mountai...

It looks like a much easier way to organise lifts. (Next year we'll have this stuff figured out a lot further in advance - we're still learning!)

Thanks,
Dougald
